Ran hard today....

I ran so hard today. Foster Mom brought in a new guest K9. He gave me a run for my $$.
I snuck up on the couch for a quick snooze before being ushered to bed.
4 dogs in this house is a lot of work.......

Today Derby went to his first big social event for our local animal shelter. He did great. Derby warmed up to everybody after the first 5 minutes. Present were many humans, dogs, cats and hot food. He got along with everybody, including K9's and Felines. Though there was some leash pulling around the hot food. Yummm....

Derby met a trainer of hunting dogs, and got to show off a little of what he knew. After a few runs and calls in a large fenced area, the trainer said "this is a really nice dog".

Foster Mom was proud because she noticed the trainer kept coming back to give Derby attention. Trainer even mentioned Derby "moved with nice form".

GOOD DAY DERBY!

Derby update June 9th

How are you?!?! I'm doing great!
Since my last blog I have had some new experiences with my foster family. Learned that I don't like to go too far from my home when my electric fence collar falls off. But, also learned that I love to run so hard that I can get injured while on a FREE-FOR-ALL run. Had to get some stitches in my leg. But no biggie. I healed supper well and fast.

I like to have my bone, but if you need to take it from me; I am o.k. with that too. However, if I don't want to share with my foster k9 brothers, I will let them know without damage. Just a lot of noise for 5 to 10 seconds.

Oh yeah....I am doing better on a leash. My foster family feels I am much more 'settled' indoors when other dogs are not around. Otherwise, I tend to play, play, play with them. My 2 foster brothers still have a lot of puppy in them, so they don't let me rest when we are all 3 indoors.

Update From My Foster Home

Derby is a fence jumper of anything under 5 feet. He is fully trained on the E-fence.

We have discovered that Derby is VERY calm in the house when there are no other dogs encouraging play. He is hyper when outside. He used to jump on us a lot in greeting, but that is down by 90% now - Hope to get it to a 100% "NO JUMP".

We have not exposed Darby to toddlers, as none have been to our place yet. However, I would completely trust Darby around a toddler. He has been around smaller children and is a little aloof towards them.

In the past week Darby has left ALL 3 of our cats alone. He is extremely trainable. Super easy to train. When outdoors, Derby needs a job! He will pace looking for something to sniff and track/point if left to his own for too long.

Derby can NOT deviate from his regular diet. He has a sensitive tummy to any change on food.

I am doing great on my Dogtra E Collar. We went for a hike this past week and I came back each time I was called by the collar.

I like to swim! Took a dip in a small pond for a few minutes. Helped to get a weeks worth of mud off me.

My foster family says that I am super easy to train. This coming week we are going to work on my ability to stay within 10 to 15 feet, in front, of my family while on a hike. The first hike they let me spread my wings a little and I ran a large circle around them during the entire walk.

Wow! Life is full of fun at my foster family's home. I like being out doors, but settle very well when indoors.

This Wireless fence makes life so easy for me.

I point lots of things with feathers. I think I may be a good 'flushing' dog too because my energy is high for running, running, running.
